British and European ladder certification standards apply to all step ladders and platform steps supplied in UK and it's important that the right type of stepladder is used for the job.

There are 3 classifcations for stepladder safety based on the safe working 'vertical' load...

BS 2037 Class 1 - Heavy Industrial Use: Duty rating 130kg / Max load 175kg
EN 131 (Class 2) - Commercial Light Trade: Duty rating 115kg / Max load 150kg
BS 2037 Class 3 - Domestic Use: Duty rating 95kg / Max load 125kg
